The accident occurred about 8:30 o'clock when the victim, Joe Bock of Laurin, and two companions, Pete Moran of Alder and Ray Shaw of Laurin, were returning from a fishing trip to Granite creek. About a mile northwest of Ruby, near the Chris Hansen ranch, their car, a Model T Ford, jacknifed when a front wheel struck a deep pile of soft dirt, turning over. Harold Gilman of Ruby, who was en route home from Sheridan, came upon the scene directly after the accident and took the injured to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Gilman, who rendered first aid and called Dr. W. J. Burns of Sheridan. Bock was found to have suffered fatal head injuries, and died at 9:30, soon after the doctor's arrival. Joe Wilcox Bock was the youngest son of J. D. Bock and the late Jennie Bock. He was born at the ranch on Ramshorn October 1, 1912, where the family resided before moving to Laurin in 1925. He attended grade school in Virginia City, taking a prominent part in all school activities. He was married to Miss Marjorie VanSlette April 5, 1935. Besides his wife and infant son he leaves to mourn his untimely death his father, J. D. Bock, postmaster at Laurin; one brother, Dan, Jr., of Helena, and eight sisters, Mrs. Oliver Morse, Mrs. Frank VanSlette, Mrs. Florence Graham, Mrs. Charlotte Murray, Mrs. Jack Cowan, Mrs. Pete VanSlette, Mrs. John C. Brown and Mrs. Bert Kelly, as well as several aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. E. D. Swisher of Sheridan reading the service. The entire county was shocked by the sad accident which claimed the popular young man's life and extends sympathy to his bereaved relatives. ~~ Montana Death Index #Mad 966 shows Joseph Bock died on March 8, 1936, in Madison County, Montana, aged 23.
