Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Wednesday morning at St Lawrence church of which Miss Ludwig was a member. The Rev Fr. Arthur Peockes will offer the requiem mass. Born November 27, 1860 in Germany, Miss Ludwig came to Iowa at an early age with her parents, Martin and Anna Ludwig. They located at Dubuque, moving from there to a farm northeast of Breda, which was the family home for a number of years. The next move was to Carroll, where Miss Ludwig clerked at the Ludwig Brothers General store. After working there for long time, she continued to make her home in Carroll with her mother and sister Anna. Following their deaths she lived with her sister, Mrs Joseph Schelle, until two years ago when she went to the home of her niece, Mrs Jack Reiling near Auburn. About a year an a half ago, she entered the nursing home. Miss Ludwig was the last of a family of six boys and three girls. She leaves many nieces and nephews in this communtity. March 3, 1949 - Carroll Daily Times - Requiem mass was read at 9:30 yesterday morning at St. Lawrence church for Miss Sophia Ludwig, 88, who died Sunday night after a two-year illness. Mass was offered by the Rev. Fr. Victor Koliusch, assistant pastor of the parish. Burial was in the family lot in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Ludwig, John Ludwig, Albert Ludwig, and Herman, Joe and Charles Schelle. Relatives from a distance at the rites were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schelle and Mrs. C.A. Stallman and daughter, Victoria, of Reliance, S.D. There were many relatives and friends from Breda, Auburn, Arcadia and the surrounding communities.
