Description	:	Josiah Smith Filloon, Who is my great, great grand father, was born, 19 of Aug., 1830, in Richland Co., Ohio. He was raised on the family farm until he left on March 22 1852, to find a new life in California. He first located in Butte County. and other parts of The San Joaquin Valley. He was raised on the family farm until he left on March 22 1852, to find a new life in California. He first located in Butte County. and other parts of The San Joaquin Valley. He Married Elizabeth Ann Barker, who was a native of Peoria County, Illinois, on August 20,1857,In Stockton. in the mean time a daughter, Evangeline, and a son, William Clinton, were born. In the Spring of 1860 moved to Contra Costa County. . In the town of Claton, another three son's were, born, John Alvin, Jan. 28, 1862. Robert Lincoln was born November 10, 1864, Charls S. was born Aug.10, 1869. The same year they moved to Stanislaus County, about 8 miles from Hills Ferry. The next year they moved to Fresno County, near Toll house, and improved a place in Big Sandy, living there until 1879.in the meantime another daughter was born, Hattie May, april 21, 1873. In Dec. 1879 they moved to the valley about 10 miles southeast of Fresno. eight miles north of Selma, on section 30, township 14, range 22, and there farmed about eight hundred acres in wheat, wich he said averaged about four sacks to the acre for ten years on unirigated land, if irrigated would be about 10 sacks per acre. On March 5th, 1883, Josiah's beloved wife Elizabeth died. In April, 1888, Josiah bought lots in Sanger Ca. and improved the property known as Sanger Livery Stables, on Seventh and O Streets. at that time only two houses under construction. The town site at that time contained less than 20 people. He also built a water works, and a home on the lots he owned. In 1895 he remaried to Jennie Neil. Josiah spent his life in the service of God,He was always found with Gods people, a united with that branch of the church which was covenient, having beena member of the Congregational and Presbyterian church of Sanger was organized May 4,1890, he ws elected a ruling elder, and filled the office until the last two years of his life. He was one of the organizers of the first Sundy-school in Sanger, and was conectedevery movement for the improvement of the young in his own church. On September 27, 1899, Josiah fell asleep in Jesus, at the age 69 years, And now rests beside his beloved wife, Elizabeth.
