Judy was born on September 6, 1940, in Gorin, Missouri, to Harold Arlo and Verna Murline (Meyer) Hustead. Judy spent a few early years in Fort Madison, Iowa, but was primarily raised in Gorin, Missouri. After graduating from High School in 1958, Judy attended Gem City Business College in Quincy, Illinois. Judy was married to Ronald Boyer on March 3, 1963, at Memphis, Missouri. She spent time working at the Bank of Kahoka and the Mercantile Bank in Memphis, while raising four children in between. Later in life, Judy spent considerable time volunteering at the Scotland County Clothes Closet and the Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop while spending considerable time with her grandchildren and most recently, her great granddaughter. Judy loved gardening, working on the family farm, traveling to see family, was an ardent sports fan and a passionate fan of her beloved Arkansas State Red Wolves. Judy is survived by her husband, Ronnie and four children: Brad and Kristi Boyer of Moberly, Missouri; Beth and Rob Stellmacher of Waunakee, Wisconsin; Brian and Rhonda Boyer of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Kevin and Erin Boyer of Kansas City, Missouri. The apple of Judy’s eye are her seven grandchildren: Brett Boyer and his wife, Brittany, Lindsey Boyer and Brandon Boyer, all of Moberly, Missouri; Abby Stellmacher and Tyler Stellmacher, both of Waunakee, Wisconsin; Zach Boyer and Ellie Boyer, both of Kansas City, Missouri; one great grandchild, Braelynn Boyer, of Moberly, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents, Harold and Murline; her brother, Allen, and an infant brother. ------------------------------------------------------------ ARBELA, Mo. — A northeast Missouri woman is dead after an ice fishing tragedy on her family farm. It happened at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday at a private farm pond along Scotland County Route A two miles south of Arbela, Mo. Scotland County Coroner Dr. Jeff Davis told KTVO the victim is Judy Boyer, 75, of Arbela. Davis said Boyer and her husband, Ronnie, were ice fishing on their farm when they both fell through the ice. Ronnie was able to get himself out of the pond. Judy never resurfaced. Emergency crews arrived and pulled Judy Boyer out of the water, started CPR and took her to Scotland County Hospital in Memphis where she was pronounced dead. Davis said Ronnie Boyer was later taken to the hospital by the Scotland County Sheriff's Office due to low body temperature. He was treated and released.
