Julia Ann Claus was born Nov. 18, 1862 to Richard and Anna Meehan on a farm in Clayton township and lived there with her parents, her two sisters and one brother, until the time of her marriage to Oscar Claus on Sept. 26, 1900. Mr. and Mrs. Claus farmed for five years and then moved to Garnavillo, where the rest of Mrs. Claus's life was spent. Mrs. Claus was a member of St. Joseph's church, of the Rosary society and of the Ladies Guild. She is survived by her husband, and by her one brother, Pat Meehan, of Rockwell. Krual of Elkader, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Kuempel, Mrs. Frances Hayden, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Young, Fred Carrier, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Ihm, Carl Ihm, Fred Hedeman, Mrs. Edna Scholz, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Carrier of Guttenberg.
