Read More	From The Plattsmouth Journal, April 25, 1927, p 6, Transcribed by Linda Berney: Mrs. Katherine Hadraba, an Old Resident, Dies - Death Removes Another of the Old Residents of the Community and a Well Loved Lady From Saturday's Daily - Yesterday afternoon after the passing of the meridian of day, one of the old residents of the city was called to the last long rest and death came to still the sufferings and disappointments of life in the peaceful release of Mrs. Katherine Hadraba from her long illness. The death was not unexpected as the aged lady was been failing very rapidly since last June and in the last few weeks it was clear to the members of the family that the mother was not to be spared to them for a great while. As the days passed the loving hands of those nearest and dearest to her had ministered to make the last hours happy and comfortable as possible as the sands of life ran their last course. Katherine Choutka was born at Prague, Bohemia, November 25, 1852 and was past her seventy-fourth year when called to rest. She grew to womanhood in her native land and made her home there until in 1881 when she came to the United States and located at Plattsmouth and three months after her arrival was united in marriage to John Hadraba, then a young man in the employ of the Burlington in the local shops. The married life of Mr. and Mr. Hadraba continued happily until thirty-five years ago when the husband was killed in a boiler explosion at the shops and left the widow with the family of three children whom she has reared to manhood and womanhood and lived to see the grandchildren of her heart playing at her knee. To bless the life of Mrs. Hadraba, three children were born, all of whom are living, they being Joseph F. Hadraba of this city, Mrs. Louis Jiran of Maisdan, North Dakota and John L. Hadraba of Lincoln. to share in the sorrow of the death of this good woman there also remains nine grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Joseph Jelinek of this city also survives. In her early girlhood Mrs. Hadraba joined with the Roman Catholic church and in this faith she remained a devout member until death. Following the death of the husband Mrs. Hadraba maintained the family home on west Vine street for a number of years, but for the past fourteen years she has made her home with her son, Joseph F. Hadraba and family and where she resided at the time of death. Through the long years of her residence here Mrs. Hadraba had made a large circle of friends and who are sharing with the family the burden of sorrow that the separation has brought to them. The funeral services were held on Sunday at 3 o'clock from the Holy Rosary church on west Pearl street and the body laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery beside that of the husband who had gone on before.
