Mrs. Katherine Francis Davis, 928 Exchange, died at 11:25 o'clock Friday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Larkin, who lives on West Sixth avenue. Burial will be in Maplewood cemetery. Mrs. Davis was born in Illinois February 14, 1854. She was the daughter of William T. Saffer and Katherine Fox Saffer. She came to Kansas in 1863, lived for a year at Lawrence, then came to Lyon county. She was married February 8, 1870, to Thomas Benton Kelly Davis, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Davis is survived by seven sons: William E. Davis, Hartford; Gordon M. Davis and T.B. Davis, Allen; W.V. Davis, Seattle, Wash., and A.E. Davis, C.A. Davis and H.C. Davis, Emporia; a daughter, Mrs. Walter Larkin, Emporia; 10 granddaughters, 8 grandsons, 10 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. A niece, Mrs. Cordell Lambert, of Emporia, also was reared int he Davis home. Mrs. Davis was a member of the First Christian church, the Ladies of the G.A.R. and honorary member of the Past Presidents club of the Ladies of the G.A.R. Mrs. Davis was the last surviving member of the W.T. Saffer family.
