Description	:	Mrs. Petersen Rites Held On Saturday Services for Mrs. Katherine Petersen were held at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Jan. 31 at St. Peder's Lutheran Church, Nysted. Rev. Arnold D. Knudsen, Pastor, officiated. Mrs. George Christensen, Mrs. Arnold Krogh and Mrs. Arne Espersen sang, "Going Down the Valley". Mrs. Krogh was the organist and played the accompaniment, also, for the congregation, who sang, "Hallowed Church Bells" and "Savior Again to Thy Dear Name". Casket Bearers were Claus Clausen, Arnold Krogh, Robert Petersen, Anton Faaborg, Paul Christensen and Otto Larsen. Interment was made in the family plot in the Nysted Cemetery. Katherine Petersen was born in Thisted, Denmark, Nov, 21, 1870. She came to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peder Petersen when 11 years old. She lived with her parents in Nysted until her marriage to Ludvig Petersen on June 17,1887. They lived in Colorado until spring of '88 when due to Mr. Petersen's health they moved back to Nysted where Mr. Petersen passed away in 1934. She moved to Dannebrog in 1945 where she made her home and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. F. Lauritsen on January 17, 1956. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and her son, Herbert in 1938. She leaves to mourn her passing, two daughter, and a son, Mrs. W. F. Lauritsen of Dannebrog, Mrs. Paul Baadsgaard of Minneapolis, Minn., Roland Petersen of La Mesa, Cal; seven grandchildren' five great grand children; two brothers and one sister, N.C. Petersen of Fremont, P. N. Petersen of Fremont, P. N Petersen, Grand Island and Mrs. Christine Lauritsen, Pasadena, Cal. and a host of friends. Jacobsen Mortuary, Dannebrog had charge of arrangements. Later she changed her given name to Katherine and her family changed their surname, Pedersen, to Petersen.
