Mrs. Thomas Burke passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Quinn, after a critical illness of several months. She was 83 years of age. Mrs Burke fell and broke a hip; was at Cedar Valley hospital for some time then was brought to her daughter's home. Catherine Saunders, daughter of Thomas and Anastasia Saunders, was born at Darlington, Wisconsin February 13, 1862, and died Sunday December 16, 1945. She came to Riceville 57 years ago after her marriage to Mr. Burke on Nov. 29, 1888, in Darlington, Wisconsin. They settled on the old Burke homestead and lived there for 47 years when they retired and moved to Riceville. She is survived by her aged husband and nine children;; Nellie Humes, Margate City, New Jersey; Dr. Edmund Burke of Waterloo; (Thomas Burke, died in infancy); Marie and Stacia Dorneden (twin sisters who married brothers) both of Gratiot, Wisconsin; Robert and Francis Burke and Marguerite (Tom) Quinn of Riceville; James Burke of Banning, California; Irene Shornhorst, Waterloo,; and one sister, Miss Margaret Saunders of Gratiot, Wisconsin Funeral sevices were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clockat Immaculate Conception Church, Father Sullivan officiating. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery
