Description	:	HOLTON Kathleen M. Schumacher, 57, of Holton, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at her home. She was born August 9, 1953 in Holton, the daughter of Christopher and Mildred Walsh Walker. Her mother died when Kathleen was very young. She was raised by her father and step-mother, Ethel Gaston Walker. She attended school at Mayetta for eleven years and graduated from Corning Community High School in Corning, Iowa in 1971. Read More	HOLTON Kathleen M. Schumacher, 57, of Holton, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at her home. She was born August 9, 1953 in Holton, the daughter of Christopher and Mildred Walsh Walker. Her mother died when Kathleen was very young. She was raised by her father and step-mother, Ethel Gaston Walker. She attended school at Mayetta for eleven years and graduated from Corning Community High School in Corning, Iowa in 1971. She earned an Associates Degree in Industrial Management from Trident Technical College in Charleston, SC. She served in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1983. Kathleen worked at the Charleston Navy Shipyard. After moving back to Kansas she worked at Sante Fe Railroad for five years and had worked at Frito-Lay since 2002, both in Topeka. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Mary L. Bair Unit No. 44 of the American Legion, both in Holton. Kathleen married Arnold James Schumacher on August 7, 1982 at Addison, IL. He survives, of the home. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Heidi Renee Schumacher, who died in 1984, her parents and step-mother, a brother, Michael Walker, and a sister, Marilyn Walker. Other survivors include two sons, Aaron Scott Walker and wife Christy, Jacksonville, FL, and Joseph Walker, Boise, ID; two daughters, Heather Schmidt and husband Josh, Topeka, and Jamie Schumacher, Holton; a brother, Harold Walker and wife Dianne, Mayetta; five sisters, Darlene Kopsa and husband Melroy, Cuba, KS, Helen Bausch and husband Richard, Mayetta, Rosemary Bergeron, Gardner, Joann Walker and husband Max Martin, Mayetta, and Patricia Erickson and husband Alan, Colby; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22nd at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Holton. Kathleen will lie in state at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton where family and friends will meet from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The casket will remain closed.
