DREXLER, 94 years, a resident of Keystone Manor and Sylvan Crossing in Beaver Dam and formerly of Monticello and Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Hillside Manor surrounded by her loving family. Kathryn Floris was born the daughter of Pearl and Nettie (NEUHART) JOHNSON on November 29, 1915 in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm near Fairfield, Iowa. She graduated from Fairfield High School and attended Parsons College. Kathryn taught in a one room school house near Limby for over 4 years. Later, she was employed at Collin's Radio in Cedar Rapids for over 15 years until her retirement. She then moved to Monticello. She was a past member of Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church. Kathryn had a fondness for horses and vegetable gardening. She enjoyed going fishing with her husband, Elmer. Kathryn is survived by her daughters: Linda (David) MARTIN of Fitchburg, WI and Judy (James) OLSON of Beaver Dam; her step daughter, Phyllis SPIEGEL of Stamford, CT; her grandchildren: Stacia MARTIN of Seattle, WA., Graeme (special friend Dani Luckett) MARTIN of Madison, Lori DINKEL of Madison, Jodi (Mark) ARNESON of Culver City, CA, Thera (Clark) CALLAHAN of Norwich, VT and Myra (Mark) AQUILA of Stamford, CT; her great grandchildren: Kaitlin DINKEL, Katie and Claire CALLAHAN, Miles and Cole AQUILA; and her special friend, Phyllis Merrill of Beaver Dam. She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Leland E. NELSON and her late husband Elmer W. DREXLER, her brother Joe JOHNSON, her sister Helen KITCHEN and her grand-daughter, Elise MARTIN. A memorial service for Kathryn is being planned for spring and will be held in Fairfield, Iowa. Inurnment will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa. Memorial contributions in Kathryn's name may be directed to the Hillside Hospice Program, 707 University Avenue, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin 53916. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Farifield, with te Rev. Joe Phipps oficiating. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield. Family visitation will follow interment Saturday at the home of Wade and Janet Roberts. Memorials may be made to Hillside Hospice Program, 707 South University Ave., Beaver Dam, WI 53916. (Funeral home link omitted per F/A/G guidlines) Mrs. DREXLER was born Nov. 29, 1915, in Des Moines, the daughter of Pearl and Nettie NEUHART JOHNSON. Mrs. DREXLER grew up on the family farm near Fairfield. She graduated from Fairfield High School and attended Parsons College. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Linby for more than four years. Later, she was employed at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids for more than 15 years until her retirement. She then moved to Monticello. Survivors include two daughters, Linda MARTIN and husband David of Fitchburg, Wis., and Judy OLSON and husband James of Beaver Dam, Wis.; one stepdaughter, Phyllis SPIEGEL of Stamford, Conn.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Lelane E. NELSON; her husband, Elmer W. DREXLER; one brother, Joe JOHNSON; one sister, Helen KITCHEN; and one granddaughter.
