Description	:	Kathryn J. "Katie" Mineart, 90, of Brighton, died Friday July 6, 2012, at Halcyon House in Washington. She was born February 22, 1922, in Portsmouth, IA to Walter William and Myrtle Legan Wehr. Upon her mother's death three weeks later, she was brought by train across Iowa in a snow storm to be raised by her father's sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Otto Fritz in Brighton. She was born February 22, 1922, in Portsmouth, IA to Walter William and Myrtle Legan Wehr. Upon her mother's death three weeks later, she was brought by train across Iowa in a snow storm to be raised by her father's sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Otto Fritz in Brighton. She attended school at Burr Oak and Brighton schools, graduating from Brighton High School in 1939. Katie married Leroy Mineart in 1941. He died October 27, 2010. They farmed south of Brighton. She was a homemaker, sold Avon products for over 25 years, a 4-H leader and county council member, a member of Sts. Joseph & Cabrini Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of America. Katie is survived by three daughters: Rosemary and her husband Gerald Pacha of Brighton, Susan and her husband Dr. Ron Seglie of Pittsburg, KS and Christine and her husband Scott Turnipseed of Moline, IL, three sons: Edward Mineart and his wife Amy of Muscatine, Paul Mineart and his wife Carol of Peyson, AZ and Mike Mineart and his wife Connie of Walford, IA, 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one brother, Walt Wehr of Omaha, NE and one sister Marjorie Van Scoy of Irving, TX. She was preceded in death by her biological parents, her adoptive parents, her step-mother, an infant son and her brother, Herman Wehr. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday July 11, 2012, with Rev. Charles J. Fladung officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation at the church will be 5-8 P.M. Tuesday evening with Prayers for a Christian Wake and a Rosary beginning at 7 P.M. Memorials to St. Joseph Cemetery may be left at the church or mailed to the family at 1022 Spruce Avenue, Brighton, IA 52540. Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
