He died Thursday, March 17, 2005, in his winter home in Mesa, Ariz. He was born Dec. 29, 1926, on a farm near Valley to A. Kent and Dorothy (Schraeder) Snide. He was born Dec. 29, 1926, on a farm near Valley to A. Kent and Dorothy (Schraeder) Snide. He attended country J-3 school and graduated from Valley High School in 1944. He assisted his father with farming until he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He served from February 1946 to April 1947. On returning from the service, Kenneth drove a gravel truck and hauled milk in cans. He married Emily L. Durkop on April 30, 1949, in St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Papillion. They moved to a farm northwest of Valley where they farmed and developed a Holstein dairy herd. He and his wife have wintered at Venture Out in east Mesa, Ariz., for 30 years. They moved to Fremont in 1981, and he had remained active in farming until his death. He participated in Extension and 4-H programs, and served as a 4-H leader. He served on the board of the Elm Tree School District 23 for 25 years, the majority of that time as board secretary. He was secretary of the Valley Rural Fire District, and he also served on the boards of several dairy organizations. Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Jerry and Bill; two grandchildren, Lesley and Greg Snide; sister, Lola (and husband, Dale) Collins of Fremont; sister-in-law, Lois Snide of Waterloo; brother-in-law, Floyd (and wife, Idora) Durkop of Papillion; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arthur Snide, who had lived in Waterloo. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. today at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 5-8 p.m. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post 32 will follow Tuesday's service in the Cedar Dale Cemetery in Papillion, near 84th Street and Highway 370. Memorials are suggested to the Dodge County Humane Society and to the Washington County Fair Improvement Fund." Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, Nebraska.
