Read More	Kristine Gaye Gavin passed away suddenly on Jan. 17, 2012 following a severe car accident. She was born Aug. 28, 1943, in Spokane, Washington. Her childhood was spent on the Wenatchee Heights, just outside of Wenatchee, Washington, where the Gudmundson family owned and operated fruit orchards. Gaye graduated Wenatchee High School in 1962, graduated Wenatchee Valley College in 1964 and later attended Central Washington University. In 1965 she married her husband of 46 years, Richard (Rick) T. Gavin. Following their marriage they lived in San Diego, Calif. for a few years where he (Rick) was stationed in the Navy. In January of 1968, Rick and Gaye moved to Rick's hometown of Chelan, Washington to work for the family newspaper, the Lake Chelan Mirror, which the Gavin family owned and operated for 63 years. They were blessed with; three sons, a daughter and three grandchildren. She spent several years raising her children and later worked at Company 107 clothing store and was a long-time hostess at Campbell's Restaurant in Lake Chelan. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, taking care of her cats, learning her new iphone, and spoiling her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Richard T. Gavin (Chelan); mother, Patricia Kelley Gudmundson (East Wenatchee); sons, Kristjan R. Gavin and partner Michael Stees (Oakland), Andrew C. Gavin (Chelan), Erin T. Gavin & fiancée Lorraine Lewis (Los Angeles); daughter, Desa K. (Gavin) Schrader and husband Brent Schrader (Kirkland); grandchildren, Krissandra Shively, Ella Schrader, and Brenner Gavin; sister, Joy and husband Tom Reese (Wenatchee); brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charlie and Terri Gavin; nieces, Kristjana Reese and Megan Gavin Benson; nephew, Justin Gavin and long-time friends Nancy and Aldon Oscarson. Gaye was preceded in death by her father, Kristjan O. Gudmundson, in 2006 and infant son Eriksson Robert Gavin in 1975. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, in the Conference Center at Campbell's Resort, Chelan, Washington. Familiarly known as the "Katladi", which was her personalized license plate, the family is asking that remembrances be made to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society in her name because of her passion for cats and animals. Former Mirror co-owner dies By Vince Lovato Mirror Editor ENTIAT -- Kristine Gaye Gavin, 68, of Chelan, died at about 3:30 p.m., Jan. 17 when her 1996 Lincoln Towncar crossed the center line on SR97A and struck a 2007 Toyota Tundra pickup driven by Vicente Mora Orduno, 43, of Wenatchee, according to the Washington State Patrol. The head-on collision occurred about three miles south of Entiat. Gavin, who was traveling north, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her Lincoln came to rest on the southbound shoulder. The pickup came to rest on the southbound lanes, blocking traffic, according to the WSP. Rescuers transported Orduno to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and the cause of the accident is under investigation, according to the WSP. The Wenatchee Washington State Patrol is looking for witnesses of the accident. This is normal practice when we have no witnesses at the scene," said Lieutenant Kandi Patrick, WSP spokesperson in Wenatchee. "We are hoping someone saw the collision or driving prior and they didn't know they should stop or stay."
