He was here to bless his home, for all to know him, but a short time, when he died after a brief illness on Friday morning, Dec. 16, 1938, at the age of six weeks. He had apparently enjoyed normal health until Tuesday last week, when a cold developed from which bronchial pneumonia resulted, which was the cause of his death. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rilas Barge of the home three miles north of Hiawatha; one sister, Donna 8; two brothers, Bernard 6 and Norman 1; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William D. Barge, Mr. and Mrs. John Van Dalsem; one great grandmother, Mrs. M.E. Goodwin of Bloomfield, Ind. 5 Uncles, 2 Aunts; other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o clock at the Barge home with J.W. Campbell, Methodist minister of Hiawatha in charge. Mrs. Harold Parman and Mrs. Sam Okeson sang "Beautiful, The little Hands" and "Jewels." The snow white casket was so tiny no pallbearers wee needed. Burial was made in the family lot at Old Fairview cemetery.
