E.O. Overland played favorite hymns of deceased on the Hammond organ which is a memorial to her daughter, Signa Bailey. Mrs. Crest was born in Bynesset, Norway, Jan. 16, 1857. She came with her husband, Ole Crest, to American in 1879. They lived in Eau Claire county, Wis., five years before moving to Sweet Grass county. this being her home for 60 years. After a short residence at Melville, they moved to lower Sweet Grass to the place now owned by Josef Leitner. Her husband died in 1907 and the following year she moved into Big Timber maintaining her home here ever since. She was mother of nine children: Karen Haug of Norway; Creston L. Crest, Mrs. Addie Hoem, and Mrs. Margaret Busha, all of Big Timber; Mrs, Alvhild Nicholson of McLeod; Oswald and Lee Crest of Minneapolis, Walter, a veteran of World War I, died in 1923, and Signa Bailey in 1940. There are 15 granchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Oswald and Lee had visited their mother a month ago so did not come for her funeral. Mr.s Crest was a charter member of Big Timber Lutheran church, also a member of the Ladies Aid since its organization. She was presented with life membership in the latter group in 1938.
