Read More	Big Timber Pioneer, March 22, 1996 Alvhild Crest Nicholson, 101, life long resident of Sweet Grass County passed away Wednesday, March 20, 1996, in the Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber following a short illness. She was born January 24, 1895, on the family ranch on Howie Creek, the daughter of Ole and Laura Crest. Alvhild graduated from Sweet Grass County High School in 1913. She married Stuart H. Nicholson on June 30, 1917. Stuart and Alvhild owned and operated the McLeod general store- swimming pool-post office-hotel and cabins from 1917 until 1945. After selling McLeod, they purchased the Melville store and operated it for several years before retiring in Big timber. Alvhild was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 19 of Big Timber and a charter member of the Boulder Valley Women's Club. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Creston, Oswald, Lee, and Walter; four sisters, Karen of Norway, Addie Hoem, Signa Bailey, and Margaret Busha, all of Big Timber; her husband, Stuart; and a grandson, Joe Nicholson. She is survived by two daughters Dorothy and husband Duane Hooper of Big Timber and Margaret and husband Tom Brown of Vancouver, Washinton; three sons, Walter and wife Millie of Silversprings, Maryland. Charles and wife Carol of Livingston and John and wife Anna Mae of Bozeman; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
