Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 29, 1928, at Kansas City, Mo., to Charles Pete and Faye Hendricks Prince. Read More	~~ Lawrence Earl Prince ~~ (August 29, 1928 ~ December 8, 2002) Veteran of the Korean War Lawrence Earl Prince, 74, of Pittsburg, died at 5 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 29, 1928, at Kansas City, Mo., to Charles Pete and Faye Hendricks Prince. He was a lifelong resident of southeast Kansas. He was a veteran of the Korean War. On Dec. 14, 1950, he married Florence Lenora Brown at Bentonville, Ark. She preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 1998. He was the supervisor of the painting department at Pittsburg State University, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Church of God Holiness in Pittsburg. Survivors include four sons, Thomas Prince of Arma, Gary Prince of New Orleans, Melvin Prince of Pittsburg, and Michael Prince of Neodesha; five daughters, Debbie Roper of Joplin, Mo., Cindy Prince and Holly Prince, both of Pittsburg, Judy Smardo of Frontenac, and Teresa Enloe of Ohio; four brothers, Floyd Prince of Kansas City, Mo., Glen Prince and Daniel Prince, both of Pittsburg, and Jerry Prince of Bonner Springs; three sisters, Connie Pauly of Topeka, and Wilma Bullion and Lucille Sanders, both of Pittsburg; a special friend, Margaret Lakey of Franklin; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a baby brother. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with the Rev. Winford Conley and the Rev. Jerry Prince officiating. Burial will be in Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where friends may call after 5 p.m. today. The family will be at the home of Steve and Judy Smardo at 100 E. McKinley in Frontenac. Arrangements are under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg.
