The Sun, March 9, 1894, page 1: Lawrence, son of J.B. and S.E. Grewell, was born in Fulton county, Ill., June 2, 1891, and died at Glasco, Kansas, Feb. 14, 1894, aged 3 years, 9 months and 13 days. After playing and talking all forenoon on Tuesday, combing his mother's hair, and entertaining her as only a loving child can entertain, he complained of being sick, and was told to lie down on the lounge and he would feel better. But he did not improve. Instead, he grew rapidly worse, until a physician was called; but no relief could be given the little fellow. He continued vomiting, and growing worse. He suffered much, but patiently, talking of his playmates in such a cheerful voice that hope was given. All at once he said that his kitten wanted to see him, and his mother stooped to see if any change had come, when he said, "Kiss me, Mamma." Then he kissed and hugged her, and asked for Frank and Emma, but was told they were in bed. The children were called to see him, and a few minutes later a question was asked him which he tried to answer, but his tongue was silenced. Then he looked toward Heaven, beyond this vale of tears. God had called him; let His will be done. A CARD OF THANKS We return our sincere thanks to all persons who in any wise assisted us during the sickness and death of our dear Lawrence. Our gratitude for the services received is profound, and will be eternal; and we pray that God, who graciously rewards even a glass of water given in his name, shall profusely bestow upon above mentioned persons His sweetest favors and greatest blessings.
