Born March 2, 1945, in Lancaster, to the late Raymond M. and Celeste Mae (Wolfe) Sowers, he was currently employed at Ralston Foods, where he had worked for more than 25 years. Mr. Sowers was a very active member of Cornerstone New Testament Church, serving on the church board and a number of other capacities. Words cannot express the love and appreciation felt by his many friends and relatives. He volunteered his time and skills, too numerous to mention, to help anyone in need. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Kathy Sowers, of the home; son, Michael R. (Valerie) Sowers of Fenton, Mo.; daughters, Heidi S. (John) Dennison and Sarah C. (Donny) Browning, both of Lancaster; grandchildren, Emilee M. Sowers and Karsten M. Sowers of Fenton, Mo., John L. Dennison and Noah D. Dennison and Maranda J. Browning and Dustin M. R. Browning, all of Lancaster; sisters, Elsie Darst of Lancaster, Ann Hobson of Bremen, and Alice Ayers of Rockbridge; and brothers, Ralph Sowers and Harold Sowers, both of Lancaster; and Paul Sowers of Daytona Beach, Fla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dave Sowers. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
