Description	:	Lawrence Wachtman, 80, of Napoleon, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice. He was born March 18, 1936 in Napoleon to the late Bernet and Julia (Otte) Wachtman. On October 11, 1959 he married Vernatte Smith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Township. Read More	Lawrence Wachtman, 80, of Napoleon, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice. He was born March 18, 1936 in Napoleon to the late Bernet and Julia (Otte) Wachtman. On October 11, 1959 he married Vernatte Smith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Township. She preceded him in death on October 12, 2014. Lawrence had worked as a salesman for Service Station Supply and Schultz Oil and retired from Sauder Woodworking. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Twp. He was proud of his German heritage and loved speaking in low German and was a member of the low German Club. He enjoyed attending Napoleon High school football and basketball games and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He also loved spending time at the lake with his family. Lawrence served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Turkey. He was a member of the Napoleon American Legion. He is survived by his daughters, Gwen Grisier of Archbold and Julie (Keith) Hesterman of Napoleon; grandchildren; Wes Hesterman, Kate (Jordan) Fisher, Emily (Caleb) Turnbull, and Adam Grisier. He was also preceded in death by his son, Gregory, son-in-law, Eric Grisier, and sister, Norma Meyer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Township. Interment will follow at the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Napoleon Joint Veteran Posts. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and Thursday 10-11 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice, St. Paul's Memorial Fund or St. Paul's Foundation.
