He retired in 1977 from Hercules Inc., where he worked as an electrician. He had been an electrician for more than 50 years. He was a life member of Masonic Lodge A.F.&A.M. in Baxter Springs and the Scottish Rite Bodies in Lawrence. He was a 50-year member of Electrical Workers Local 226 in Topeka. Mr. Myers married Merle Marie Hill on July 4, 1934, in Seneca, Mo. She died June 12, 2002. Survivors include a son, Verlon Myers, Lawrence; two brothers; Norman, Galena, and Chester, Wheatridge, Colo.; a sister, Waunita Scott, Galena; six grandchildren, Karla Rex, Kandace Lantz, Kathryn Baughman, Michelle Byrn, James Myers and William Lee Myers; and 11 great-grandchildren.
