She is survived by her husband, a resident at the Washington Care Center; a daughter, Waneta Thompson of Ottumwa; two sons, Dale Spurgeon of Richmond, Va., and Dean Spurgeon of Ames; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five stepdaughters, Rachael Johnston of Bettendorf, Dorothy Fries of Trenton, Mo., Evelyn Hanson of Bryan, Texas, Irene Weber of Northbrook, Ill., and Lucille Sobaski of Brighton; and five stepsons, Herbert Simmons of Versailles, Joe Simmons of Canoga Park, Calif., Earl Simmons of Philadelphia, Pa., Donald Simmons of Blair Wis., and Bill Simmons of Milwaukee, Wis. The service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Davis Street Christian Church, the Rev. Cecil I. Simonton officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at Reece Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday. A memorial has been established to Davis Street Christian Church.
