Read More	Leila Steinfeldt November 12, 1928 ~ December 29, 2012 Leila, age 84 of Waddell, AZ, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at her home. Leila was born on Nov., 12, 1928 in Simla CO. to parents Earl B. Wood and Edna L Wood (Kusma). She graduated from Agate High School in Agate CO. in 1949 and then from Colorado State College, currently University of Northern Colorado, in 1953. Her first employment was an elementary school teaching job in Yuma, Co. She then worked at the Pueblo Ordinance Depot in Pueblo, CO. There she met Jack Steinfeldt, who she later married. After their marriage, they moved to Massachusetts, she worked for Price Waterhouse while helping to send Jack through graduate school at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. They then moved to Anaheim, California for a short stay and then to Buckeye, Arizona Leila entered the real estate business in Litchfield Park, Arizona which she remained and enjoyed for several years. She bought her home in Waddell, Arizona in 1989 after she and Jack had divorced. Leila mightily enjoyed living a highly independent lifestyle. Up until her recent decline in health, she managed her Waddell property as though she still lived on her childhood ranch home in Colorado. There is evidence to this style as there are currently five worn, damaged weed whackers in her garage. Dust would fly as she propelled her riding lawnmower over her grassy areas. Leila loved her animals. Over time she had been the owner of numerous dogs, three of which survive her. She was a horse aficionado, again owning several along the way, and two are still at her home. Leila enjoyed any type of travel, just to look at mountains, plains, lakes, fields of alfalfa, and certainly anything that moved. She liked to play golf and was a fan of nearly all sports, but baseball seemed to be her favorite to watch. Woody, a name she mostly went by in Arizona, leaves behind many friends, co-workers and neighbors. She is also survived by a sister Doris Earlene Cirbo, of Erie, Colorado; brother Les Wood and his wife, Maggie from Albuquerque, NM; her sister-in-law Lila Lee Wood of Delta, Utah; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Kenneth of Agate, Colorado; La Vern of Delta, Utah; and Cliff of Limon, Colorado and her sister Joyce of Oxford, Ohio. Leila will be buried in the local cemetery in Simla, Colorado, next to her mother and father. A memorial service will be held in Arizona at a later time. Leila's family would like to thank everyone in Arizona who helped her along the way including the neighbors who offered comfort and friendship , assisted with care of her animals, and navigated grocery shopping and doctors visits. A special thanks goes to Arizona Technologies Consulting which expertly handled bookkeeping and bill paying needs and to the Caring Senior Services caregivers and Hospice of the Valley who provided around the clock professional health care to Woody during the last year.
