She was born October 22, 1902, near Vinland, to George E. and Zadie Baer Newton. She graduated from Vinland Rural High School in 1920. On February 23, 1926, she married Clifford E. Cooper at Lawrence. He preceded her in death. Prior to her marriage she was employed at Ralph Ward Flower Shop, Lawrence. Cooper, St. Ann, Missouri, and Wayne D. Cooper, Huntsville, Alabama; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She will lie in state from 9 to 9 Wednesday at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence, where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Wednesday.
