Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 5, from the United Methodist Church in Grand Junction for Leland Marion Delp, 47, Greene County native. The Rev. Walter L. Slack, minister of the church, officiated. Wendell Wright was soloist, accompanied by Charles Radke. Casket bearers were Elmer Lipke, Harry Kruss, Dale Lipke, Dick Kennedy, Truman Morgan and John McPherson. Interment was in Junction Township Cemetery. Leland Marion Delp, son of Milton and Cecil Crooks Delp, was born Nov. 18, 1921, in Greene County, Iowa and passed away suddenly at his home in Grand Junction March 3, 1960, at the age of 47 years, 3 months and 15 days. He grew to manhood and attended school in Greene County, graduating from the Jefferson High School with the class of 1940. Leland and Lavone Morlan were united in marriage June 28, 1943 and made their home in Des Moines for five years, later moving to Grand Junction where they have since resided. Mr. Delp was a welder, later becoming engaged in farming. He served in World War II from June 1942 until March 1944. Leland was a member of the American Legion and served on the town council. Those preceding him in death were his mother and an infant sister. Those surviving are his wife Lavone; four daughters, Janie, Vicki and Karol, all of Grand Junction, and Connie of Ames; his father Milton of Grand Junction; five brothers, Jacob and Ronald of Grand Junction, Warren of Dana, Delmar of Fort Dodge and Arthur of Badger; six sisters, Mrs Esther Low of Grand Junction, Mrs Henry (Marion) Kelley of Paton, Mrs Owen (Dorothy) Williams and Mrs Don (Margaret) Hall of Jefferson, Mrs Paul (Eleanor) Little of Panora and Mrs Jim (Martha) Godfrey of Jamaica.
