Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Burnetta Armour officiating. He was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Millersburg, the son of George C. and Mary E. (Kaser) Wagers, and June 5, 1943, married Naomi J. Fischer. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2011. Leland was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II, serving from 1943-46, and was proud of the fact that he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. His highest ranking obtained was Corporal. He was in the lumber business, and was primarily a traveling salesman for Wagers Brothers Lumber, Palletall Inc. and Semac Industries, where he was secretary for Semac. He built his own home in Clark from lumber he had cut. Leland was a member of Clark Community Presbyterian Church, where he served on the Sessions Committee, was awarded Caregiver of the Year in 2003, and served on West Holmes Board of Education for 20 plus years. He was past president of the Holmes Golfer's Association, past president and member of the Sports Hall of Fame and past president of the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce. Leland was an avid golfer all his life and was a huge sports fan. He followed all of the local teams, especially West Holmes. Surviving are children, David (Nola) Wagers of Scottsdale, Ariz., Ronald (Christine) Wagers of Elyria, Kevin (Linda) Wagers of Austin, Texas, and Kerin (Chuck) Hart of Clermont, Fla.; grandchildren, Amy (Tom Serwold) Wagers, Kelly Wagers, Brian Daniels, Todd (Dawn) Daniels, Lee Osburn, Logan (Melanie) Osburn, Casey Jill Wagers, Kristen (John) Holland, Sara (Justin) Mishler, Jennifer (Tom) O'Brien and Laura (Jared) Kocha; great-grandchildren, Henry Joseph Serwold, Abby Holland, Brandon Holland, Liam Andrew O'Brien, Anna Marie Daniels, Dylan Tyler Daniels, Audrey Marie Osburn and Olivia Logan Osburn; a brother, Jack (Bonnie) Wagers of Garrettsville; and a sister, Audrey (Warner) Rottman of Long Beach, Calif. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
