Description	:	Leo C. Weber, 88, of Seneca, died June 2, 1998, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, following emergency surgery. He had been transfered to Topeka from the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital where he had been a patient for about a week. He was born June 28, 1909, on a farm northwest of St. Benedict, the son of Anton and Josephine Olberding Weber. He attended school in St. Benedict. He was a farmer all his active life. Weber, 88, of Seneca, died June 2, 1998, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, following emergency surgery. He had been transfered to Topeka from the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital where he had been a patient for about a week. He was born June 28, 1909, on a farm northwest of St. Benedict, the son of Anton and Josephine Olberding Weber. He attended school in St. Benedict. He was a farmer all his active life. On February 20, 1935, he married Bertha Holthaus at St. Mary's Church, St. Benedict. They lived and farmed on the Weber homestead. In July, 1988, they moved to Seneca. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary and had been married 55 years when his wife, Bertha, died June 6, 1990. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca and a former active member of St. Mary's Church where he served on the church committee. He was dedicated to public service and was a member of the school boards of Cottonwood School and St. Benedict School. He was a Marion Township Trustee and an assessor for Nemaha County. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at Seneca for over 50 years. Survivors are daughters, Joan Schmitz and Mary Lee Wichman, both of Seneca; sisters, Sally Eisenbarth, Corning; Marie Otting, Earlville, IA; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, brother, John Weber; sisters, Clara and Dorothy Weber; Annie Koelzer; and Kate Stegeman. Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Seneca. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, St. Benedict.
