Description	:	Mrs. Leona D. King, pioneer resident of this vicinity, died Monday afternoon at 12:10 o’clock at her home on Second Street, her death resulting suddenly from apoplexy or heart trouble. She had been in her usual health of late, assuring her neighbor, Mrs. L. V. Scott, in a telephone conversation about 11:30 a.m. Monday that she was feeling fine. King, pioneer resident of this vicinity, died Monday afternoon at 12:10 o’clock at her home on Second Street, her death resulting suddenly from apoplexy or heart trouble. She had been in her usual health of late, assuring her neighbor, Mrs. L. V. Scott, in a telephone conversation about 11:30 a.m. Monday that she was feeling fine. Fifteen minutes later when Mrs. Scott went to Mrs. King’s door with a dish of food for the latter’s dinner she received no response when she knocked. Upon opening the door and calling to Mrs. King and still receiving no response, Mrs. Scott went into the house and as she entered the dinging room, she came upon the prostrate body of Mrs. King on the floor where she had fallen while talking on her telephone to Mrs. C. C. King. Mrs. King was unconscious when she was found by Mrs. Scott, who immediately called a physician and she died without regaining consciousness. Leona D. Gravatt was born near Prairie City, Iowa, On October 4, 1860 and was 69 years old at her death. She was married to George King on February 26, 1879, at her home eight miles southwest of Villisca and all their married life was spent in this vicinity. To them were born six children, four of whom are deceased. Those living are Bert King of northeast of Villisca and Frank King of near Morton Mills. Mrs. King leaves also three brothers. They are Will Gravatt of Belleville, Kansas and Harry and John Gravatt of Hunter, Kansas. Mrs. King’s husband died July 1911 on his farm near Villisca and in 1913 she came to Villisca to make her home. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Her funeral was held in the Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. Geo. A. Lewton in charge of the service. The pall bearers were J. M. Copelin, Will Davie, Guy Dirrim, Perry Stackhouse, Roy King, and Curtis Holland and the singing was by Mrs. F. E. Shane, Mrs. S. M. Joliffe, Roy B. Means, and H. C. Lindell with Miss Erma Edwards at the organ. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery beside the husband of the deceased.
