Zimmerman, 81, of Beatrice died at the Beatrice Manor Care Center Tuesday evening, Feb. 2, 2010. She was born on April 9, 1928, at rural Pickrell, was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell and attended Pickrell High School. She was married to Ervin E. Zimmerman on July 25, 1948, at Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She worked at Formfit in Beatrice for 20 years, worked nights at several cafes in the area as a cook, and also worked at Beatrice Manor in the laundry department. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary of Beatrice. She enjoyed cooking, caring for her family, and playing Bingo. Survivors include one son, Donald Zimmerman and wife Joyce of Beatrice; two daughters, Karen Gartner and Linda Davis and husband Terry, all of Beatrice; one son-in-law, Russell Gierhart of York; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale Cramer and wife Murrene of Cortland; one sister, Pauline Buss and husband Willard of Adams; one brother-in-law, Arnold Zimmerman and wife Hilda of Beatrice; five sisters-in-law, Helen Meyer and husband Orville, Sue Zimmerman, Leanna Cramer and Geneva Cramer, all of Beatrice, and Frieda Cramer of Cortland; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick E. and Anna Schoen Cramer; her husband, Ervin, who died on Jan. 2, 2006; her daughter, Kathleen Gierhart; one son-in-law, Robert Hueston; four brothers, Alvin, Harvey, Ervin and Marvin Cramer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at St. John Lutheran Church, Sixth and Washington streets, Beatrice, with Pastor David Kramer officiating. Burial will be at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery of rural Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Friday in the chapel of the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with funeral home in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home, 19th and Garfield, Beatrice, until 9 p.m. Thursday, and then at the church one hour preceding the service on Friday. A guest book for signatures and messages of condolence is available online at www.foxfuneralhome.net. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
