He was born December 18, 1894, in Stratford, the son of Peter P. and Betsy Angstrom. He married Mabel Ruth Carlson, December 29, 1920 at Stanhope. Mr. Angstrom farmed until his retirement in 1953 when he moved to Stratford. He was a veteran of WWI... Read More	Boone News Republican January 15, 1981 LEONARD ANGSTROM Leonard Angstrom, 86, of Stratford, died Tuesday, Jan. 13 at the Boone County Hospital. He was born December 18, 1894, in Stratford, the son of Peter P. and Betsy Angstrom. He married Mabel Ruth Carlson, December 29, 1920 at Stanhope. Mr. Angstrom farmed until his retirement in 1953 when he moved to Stratford. He served on the board of directors of the Stratford Co-op Elevator, was secretary for the Stratford Mutual Telephone Company, was a member of the city council and was on the Soldiers Relief Board of Hamilton County. He was a veteran of WWI and served in the United States Army in France. He was a past commander of the American Legion Frederick Sonksen Post 576. For the last five years Mr. Angstrom was a resident of the Evangelical Free Church Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Mabel, in 1962. Survivors include two sons, LuVerne of Stratford and Merlin of Grimes; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a brother, Elmer of Stratford. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Stratford, with Reverend Ernest J. Vick and Reverend Robert Haring officiating. Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery. Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday at the Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford from 4 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday at the church until time of the service. There will be military graveside services by the American Legion Post of Stratford. Jan. 17 at the Stratford First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest J. Vick and the Rev. Robert Haring officiating. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford. Hanson-Stark-Welin funeral home in charge of arrangements. Military graveside services were provided by members of the American Legion Frederick Sonksen Post No. 576. Survivors include two sons, LuVerne of Stratford and Merlin of Grimes; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Elmer of Stratford. He was educated in the North Marion rural school near Stratford and on Dec. 29, 1929, he was married to Mabel Ruth Carlson at Stanhope. He farmed on the family farm until his retirement in 1953 when he moved to Stratford. For the past five years, he has lived at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone. He was on the board of directors of the Stratford Co-op Elevator and had served as secretary of the Stratford Mutual Telephone Co. for a number of years. He was also on the Soldiers' Relief Board of Hamilton County and was past commander of the Stratford American Legion Post No. 576. He had also served on the city council after moving to Stratford. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the Army in France. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1962 and by his parents.
