Description	:	Leonard Schmidt was to Gottfried and Ottila Schmidt on September 27, 1917, at his parent's farm in Prairie County. He spent five years proudly serving his country in the Army, stationed in the Aleutian Islands on Attu, and also he fought heroically at the Battle of the Budge in Europe. Upon discharge, Leonard moved back to Montana and worked as a lineman for the Rural Electric Cooperative. Read More	Leonard Schmidt was to Gottfried and Ottila Schmidt on September 27, 1917, at his parent's farm in Prairie County. He spent five years proudly serving his country in the Army, stationed in the Aleutian Islands on Attu, and also he fought heroically at the Battle of the Budge in Europe. Upon discharge, Leonard moved back to Montana and worked as a lineman for the Rural Electric Cooperative. Having had mechanical experience in his army service, he was employed as a mechanic by the Ford dealership in Fairfield. He then worked for the Bureau of Reclamation, retiring in 1980, after 30 years as an operator in connection with Canyon Perry Dam, living those years in Canyon Ferry Village with his first wife, Gerty. On October 7, 1989, Leonard found love again and married Estella Main. Leonard endeared himself to everyone he came in contact with his God-fearing ways, his kind hearted spirit and his most outstanding feature, his beautiful, wide smile. Mr Schmidt was called home by his Lord on January 26, 2008. Survivors include his wife; brothers, Ed, Richard, Alvin; sisters, Lorranine Ban-Grist, Edna Straub, Meriam MacMurray, and Eldora Fischer and their spouses.
