Description	:	Leonard William Wever February 23, 1922-April 26, 2021 Leonard was born in Litchfield, NE, and grew up in rural Sherman County. In 1942, rather than wait to get drafted into the Army, he joined the US Navy. He spent most of the remainder of WWII as a Signalman on board PC1125 in the Pacific. Read More	Leonard William Wever February 23, 1922-April 26, 2021 Leonard was born in Litchfield, NE, and grew up in rural Sherman County. In 1942, rather than wait to get drafted into the Army, he joined the US Navy. He spent most of the remainder of WWII as a Signalman on board PC1125 in the Pacific. While in the Navy, he married hometown girl Eleanor Holmes. After his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1945, he and Eleanor moved to Evanston, Illinois, so he could complete his college degree at Northwestern University on the GI Bill. However, because Northwestern had so many Illinois servicemen returning, he was not admitted. Instead, he studied accounting at night at La Salle School of Accounting. In 1950, they returned to Kearney, NE, where he graduated from Kearney State College (now UNK), in 1952. Their family now included a daughter and two nephews whom he and Eleanor took in and raised as their own. They moved to Denver, where he enrolled in the graduate school of business administration at the University of Denver, graduating in 1956. In 1963, he was admitted to the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The family enjoyed all that Colorado had to offer in the 1950s and '60s, spending countless days in the mountains and other surrounding areas. After the kids were grown, he and Eleanor continued to enjoy weekend jaunts in the mountains, alone or with family. They especially treasured time spent with their grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granddaughters. In 2008, after 56 years in Colorado, they sold their home and relocated to Lincoln to the less demanding life of senior living. Leonard is survived by his children Dick (Judy) of Perry, Iowa, Don (Linda) of Nebraska City and Penny Beave of Lincoln, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-granddaughters, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Eleanor, son-in-law Bill Beave, parents Ray and Fern Wever, and his sister and brother-in-law Bethene and Harold Obermiller.
