Description	:	Leonard William Triplett Leonard William Triplett was born near Monmouth, Illinois August 24,1867, and at the age of four came with his parents, Simeon and Hester Triplett, to the Henderson vicinity to reside on a farm. He was the eldest child with three bothers and five sisters. Those preceding him in death were George, Walter, Thomas, Addie, Nancy, and Julia. Read More	Leonard William Triplett Leonard William Triplett was born near Monmouth, Illinois August 24,1867, and at the age of four came with his parents, Simeon and Hester Triplett, to the Henderson vicinity to reside on a farm. He was the eldest child with three bothers and five sisters. Those preceding him in death were George, Walter, Thomas, Addie, Nancy, and Julia. Two sisters still living are Mrs. Mary Wilson of Macedonia and Mrs. Minnie Wilson of Malvern. Mr. Triplett and his father joined the Baptist church in 1890 and later he united with the Christian church of Henderson in 1901. He was a faithful member and attended as long as he was able. He was proud of being a charter member of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Henderson for over 60 years. Mr. Triplett was united in marriage September 16,1894 to Dollie Viola Houser, a fine Christian wife and mother, loved by all who knew her. She preceded him in death January 2,1950. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. May Harris of Henderson and Mrs. Nina Phelps of Red Oak. Part of his early life was spent farming, blacksmith, plumbing, and in the hardware business. He helped build the first telephone line in 1906. He has been manager, secretary, and lineman for over 30 years. Mr. Triplett is survived by two sisters; his two daughters; four grandchildren: Dale Harris of Washington, D.C., Dwayne Harris of Omaha, Nebreska, Estaline Henderson of Red Oak,Ia. and Carolyn Phelps of Long Beach, California; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. Last rites for Leonard Triplett, 90, were held at the Henderson Christian Church, Saturday, March 22,1958 with Harold Roth officiating. Mr. Triplett, who passed away at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Phelps, in Red Oak was until recently the state's oldest telephone lineman. Only this December he did his final work for the Henderson Independent Telephone Company which he served for many years. Mrs. Eloise Steiner and Mrs. Dorothy Harbour accompanied by Mrs. Melvin Christofferson sang "In the Garden" and "Abide With Me." In charge of flowers were Mrs. Rhea Sowers, Mrs. Iva Boileau, Mrs. Rogene Holt, and Mrs. Genesee Stephens. Casket bearers were Earl Boileau, Herbert Stephens, Virgil Morris, Bevis Sowers, Elvyn Galloway, Frank Rupe, Fred Roeder, and Marvin Bowen. Honorary bearers were G.T. Harover, A.J. Harbor, H.A. Paul, A.P. Phillips, D.N. McGrew, Lee Gillfillan, Gordon Steiner, and Cline Woods. Berl Morris and Glenn Brown were ushers. Interment was in the Farm Creek Cemetery with the McKee Funeral Home in charge.
