Description	:	Leonore Hornbussel Bruce, daughter of Frederick (sic) and Katherine (Grummert) Hornbussel, was born on a farm north of Superior on November 27, 1911. She passed away May 21, 1990, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 24 days. She was baptized on December 27, 1911, and confirmed on May 9, 1916, in the Salem Lutheran Church, and lived in this farming community until she moved to Idaho in the early 1940's. She passed away May 21, 1990, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 24 days. She was baptized on December 27, 1911, and confirmed on May 9, 1916, in the Salem Lutheran Church, and lived in this farming community until she moved to Idaho in the early 1940's. Leonore married Bud Bruce in Idaho and had one son, Billy Joe. Billy died in an automobile accident at the age of 15. The loss of her only son forever left an empty place in her heart. She loved the mountains and forests of Idaho, and lived there until poor health brought her back to Nebraska in October, 1985. She was a warm and gentle person who enjoyed making new acquaintances. One of her greatest pleasures was to be in the company of friends and relatives. She loved young people and was delighted when the nieces and nephews stopped to see her. Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, George and Frederick Hornbussel. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Donna Mary Hornbussel of Superior; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Ernaand Ernest Schiermeyer, Dorothea and Bud Rogers, Rosella and Emery Martin, all of Superior and Pauline and Robert Knott of Omaha. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 24, 1990, at 2:00 p.m. from the Salem Lutheran Church near Superior with Pastor Steve Tjarks officiating. Music was provided by soloist Rev. Phil Thomas singing "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace" with Virginia Drohman as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Tony Martin, Don Schiermeyer, Alan Hornbussel, Randl (sic) Rogers, Tom Johnson and Gordon Schiermeyer. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, June 7, 1990; pg. 5
