GREEN PASSED AWAY Leslie E. Green, 77, passed away at his home in Cedar Rapids, November 24, 1951 after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church with Rev. Ethel O. McAninch officiating, burial took place at the Evergreen Cemetery in St. Edward, Monday Nov. 26. Leslie E. Green, son of Jasper and Noni Green was born at Peoria, Ill., July 9, 1874 and died November 24, 1951. He came to Nebraska with his parents when he was nine years of age. They settled on a farm near St. Edward. It was here that he married Edith Crosier on January 5, 1898. They celebrated their 59th anniversary in 1948. After their marriage they lived on a farm near St. Edward. To this union was born one son and two daughters. The family moved to Greeley Co. where they lived for 20 years. He retired from farming and moved to Cedar Rapids in 1929. After this he operated a gravel pit at Columbus for several years. He was a good citizen and served as mayor of Cedar Rapids for several years. He was elected County Commissioner in 1932 and held that office for 8 years. Mr. Green united with the Methodist church in his young manhood and remained a faithful member until his death. He served as Sunday school superintendent at Enfield for a number of years and was a member of the church board for many years, serving as steward and later a trustee. Two brothers preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn, besides his wife, his son, Claude Leslie Green of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Blanche Mildred Cornwell of Belgrade and Mrs. Maude Sorenson of Harlan, Iowa. One sister, Mrs. Grace Buck of Lexington and other relatives and friends. --obituary Albion News and another newspaper
