Rapids church Edith Evelyn Green was born in Hopkinton Delaware County, Ia., May 7, 1876, a daughter of Henry and Mary Crosier. When two years of age she came with her parents to the Mount Pleasant area east of St. Edward. Mrs. Green attended school at Mount Pleasant in Platte County. She was married to Leslie E. Green Jan 5, 1898 at St. Edward. They lived North of St. Edward for three years, then moved to a farm in the Endfield community. She was an active member of the Endfield Church and transferred membership to Cedar Rapids Methodist Church. In 1930 they moved to Cedar Rapids. And in 1948 Mr. and Mrs. Green celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The past four years Mrs. Green was cared for in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Blanche Cornwell, until April 17 when she entered the Boone County Hospital and died at 4:00 a.m. April 18. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and her husband, Leslie. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Blanche) Cornwell of Belgrade, and Mrs. Harold (Maude) Sorenson of Harlan, Ia; and one son, Claude Green of Cedar Rapids; also two sisters, Mrs. Thomas McVeigh of Bremerton, Wa, and Mrs. R. R. Younger, Lebanon, Or.; nine grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, with Rev. Bonnie Gilmer officiating, Dick Jackson as soloist and Mrs. H.T. Jackson as organist. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery at St. Edward. Pallbearers were all grandchildren, Leslie Cornwell, James Cornwell, William Cornwell, Jasper Cornwell, Donald Green and John R. Connelly.
