She passed away Thursday, October 28, 1999, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 9 days. She graduated from Nelson High School in 1937. Margaret joined the Methodist Church of Nelson when she was 13 years of age. After high school she worked in the Nelson and Lincoln telephone offices as a operator. She also worked several years for the State of Nebraska Department of Banking and Welfare as a typeset clerk and P.B.X. operator. September 30, 1950, Margaret married Leslie W. Reed Jr. in Papillion, Nebraska. This marriage was blessed with five children, Leslie Wayne Jr., Linda Kay, Patricia Ann, Nancy Sue and Margaret Louise. Most of her life was spent in Nelson but she also lived in the communities of Lincoln, Red Cloud, Fairfield, Superior and Clay Center, Nebraska and Dalles Center, and New Virginia, Iowa. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Leslie, on May 5, 1996; four brothers, Ora, Jess, Elbert and Earl as a child; and one sister, Opal Stahl. Survivors include one son, Leslie W. Reed Jr., Nelson, Nebraska; four daughters, Linda Lowery and Pat Miller and her husband Gary, all of Holly, Colorado, Nancy Reed of Sedgwick, Kansas, and Peggy Reed and her husband Charles Kelley of Magnolia, Arkansas; one step-daughter, Joyce McDowell and her husband Ed of Salt Lake City, Utah; one brother, Oliver "Pete" Farver of Nelson, Nebraska; and nine grandchildren, Adam Zimmerman, Chad and Matthew Miller, Teraesa and Robert Lowery, Jesse, Lesley and John Reed and Bryan Gilmore. Funeral services were held Monday, November 1, at 2 p.m., at the Nelson Community United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sturdy officiating. Music was "Wings of a Dove" and "Lord, I'm Coming Home" with Ruth Watts as soloist. Interment was in Nelson Cemetery. Pallbearers were Curt Farver, Scott Farver, Walter Heyen, Larry Thornberry, Steve Peterson, Alvin Schott and Royce Schott. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
