Mr. Proctor died Tuesday, June 2, 1992, at his home. He was born May 26, 1907, in Rosendale, Mo., the son of Newton J. and Martha Alice Rogers Proctor. He attended public schools in Effingham and moved to Lawrence in 1942. He worked for the Sunflower Ordnance Plant in DeSoto during World War II. Mr. Proctor built and operated his business, 'Les Proctor's Garage', which he owned and operated until he retired in 1969. He was a member of Mount Oread Aerie No. 309 Fraternal Order of Eagles and has served in all chairs, including president from 1948-49, 1952-53 and 1973-74.He was the first president of the retired Eagles Activity Club from October 1972 to 1974. Mr. Proctor was a member of the Pioneer Club and the North Lawrence Baptist Church. He married Hazel Hudson on July 14, 1930, in Atchison. She died Dec. 24, 1987. Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Bright and Carol Ann Guy, both of Lawrence; three sons, Lester N. Proctor, rural Eudora, Robert C. Proctor, Lawrence, and Richard D.
