Description	:	Mansfield - Lester "Butch" Rieck, 88, of Mansfield, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at Beverly Healthcare Center, Ipswich. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21, at St. John's Lutheran Church-Highland Township, rural Aberdeen, with Rev. Brian Idt officiating. Burial follows at the church cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 7 p.m., (with family present 5 to 7 p.m.) Tuesday, at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street, Aberdeen, and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church-Highland Township. Lester Fred Rieck was born March 29, 1917, to Christ and Anna (Brick) Rieck on their farm west of Warner. He attended area grade schools and Mina High School. He farmed with his father as a young man. On Nov. 1, 1941, he married Ruth Threna Kushman at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Aberdeen. They farmed in the Mansfield area their entire married life. He loved all aspects of farming. In 1963 he started working for Kyburz Construction, where he worked for 31 years. His wife, Ruth, died in 1992. He continued to operate his farm until his death. He was a very caring and generous man. He would help anyone who needed it. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always was there for them. Even in the last few months of his life, he never lost his sense of humor and still liked to share memories of when he was young. He liked playing cards and attending his grandchildren's activities. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church for all of his adult life. Survivors include two sons, Daryl (Barb) Rieck of Aberdeen and Don (Joyce) Rieck of Valley Springs, S.D.; one daughter, Judy Hansen of Omaha, Neb.; one son-in-law, Glen Olson of Box Elder, S.D.; one brother, Harley (Jean) Rieck of Warner, S.D.; three sisters, Evelyn Fox, Mavis (Melvin) Eske and Joyce (Doug) Rogers, all of Aberdeen; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughter, Marilyn; two brothers; one sister; one grandson and one great-grandson. Casket bearers will be his grandsons, Michael Browning of Rapid City, SD, Jeffrey Rieck of Mesa, Ariz., Daniel Rieck of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mark Browning of Mina, S.D., Gregory Rieck of Germany, and Anthony Hansen of Mansfield, S.D. Honorary casket bearers will be his granddaughters, Kristine Alcon of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rebecca Flom of Chesapeake, Va., Venus Donley of Mansfield, S.D., Leslie Olson of Box Elder, S.D., Shawn Jorgensen of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Heidi Hageman of Valley Springs, S.D. Organist will be Lois Ristau. There will be a violin solo by great-granddaughter, Grace Rieck and congregational singing. Ushers will be Larry Stroschein and Daryl Kalt.
