Burial was in the IOOF cemetery, Victor. Stricken with failing health in recent months, the deceased entered Marengo Memorial hospital, Sept. 26, where he died Sept. 27, 1974. Kempf was a member of the Victor United Methodist church and also served on the Victor fire department. For 42 years he was barber in Victor. Casket bearers were Mel Happel, Merle Pope, Russell Fetzer, Charles Seaton, Lawrence DeMeulenaere and Wilbur Shine. The son of Edward and Jen Kempf, he was born Oct. 18, 1912 in Victor. He received his education in the local school and was a graduate of Cedar Rapids Barber college. In 1938 he marreid Alyce Bowman and they were residents of Victor. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Kay Simpson, a son, Keith, one granddaughter, Jodi Simpson and a brother, Earl Kempf, Cedar Rapids. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister.
