Description	:	Funeral services were held at 2:30 Monday afternoon at the Woodward Methodist Church for Lester Lloyd Davisson, who passed away at his home near here after a lingering illness. The Rev. G.D. Toole, presided at the services, which were under the direction of the Hooker Funeral Home. Music was by a quartet, Frank Vernon, Dennis Countryman, Anna Cooper, and Ina Beck, singing "It is Well With My Soul." Mrs. Ina Beck also sang the solo, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Lester Lloyd Davisson was born near Wick in Warren County, Iowa, on March 6, 1872 to Catherine and Granville G. Davisson and died at home at the age of 78 years, five months and six days, after a lingering illness. At the age of 10 his mother died and he, with his one brother and two sisters, went to make their home with his grandparents. He attended grade school in Warren County and later attended Simpson College at Indianola and Highland Park College in Des Moines. He taught in the rural schools of Boone County for a number of years and later was postal clerk in Des Moines. From Des Moines he moved to the farm home where he resided until the time of his death. On December 6, 1899 he was united in marriage to Viola Elizabeth Burkhart. To this union were born nine children; two sons dying in infancy. Those surviving him besides his wife are: five daughters and two sons, Mrs. Henry (Ruth) Rinker, Waterloo; Mrs. Cecil (Rachel) Francis, Rockwell City; Mrs. Paul (Helen) Bork, Ames, Mrs. Don (Lola) White, Nevada; Mrs. Reuben (Mabel) Peterson, Madrid; Harold and Leland of the Woodward vicinity and 18 grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Fred (Ethel) Schlingman of Washington, D.C., two half-sisters and one half-brother of Illinois. His father, mother, one sister, and one brother preceded him in death. On December 6, 1949, Mr. and Mrs Davisson observed their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Davisson was an active member of the Methodist church as long as his health permitted, serving as Sunday school superintendent for many years. His memory will be cherished for he was a kind, loving husband, a patient, understanding father and a friend of everyone he knew.
