Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., at the Stratford Lutheran Church with Rev. Jenny Edinger officiating. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery. In March of 1931, he married Verna Marie Nelson at the Boone Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the Stratford area until 1973 when he retired. Survivors include his wife, Verna, one daughter, Glenyce M. Anderson, Fort Dodge, four sons, David of Titonka, Robert of Rockford, Ill., Eldon of Stratford, and Paul of Waterloo; nine grandchildren, two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, and one brother. Dayton Review February 5, 1986 Lester Anderson, 79 Funeral services for Lester Anderson, 79, Stratford, were held Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the Stratford Lutheran Church, Stratford. Rev. Jennie Edinger conducted the 1:30 p.m. service. Interment was held in the South Marion Cemetery, Stratford. Stark Welin Funeral Directors, completed the arrangements. Mr. Anderson passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, at the Hamilton County Hospital, Webster City. During the service Phil Berglund sang, "Abide With Me," and the congregation sang "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God," accompanied by Ardelle Phipps. Caring for flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Swanson and Mr. and Mrs. Severt Crim. Bearers were Norris Berglund, Edward Nelson, William Larson, Donald Sealine, Burton Patterson and Daryl Engstrom. Lester Anderson was born on January 19, 1907 in rural Stratford. He was the son of Peter and Anna (Berglund) Anderson. Lester married Verna Nelson on march 21, 1931 at Boone. The couple farmed in the Stratford area, retiring in 1973. Lester was a member of Stratford Lutheran Church and was a recipient of the Stratford Outstanding Senior Citizen award. Survivors include his wife, Verna, Stratford; daughter, Glenyce Anderson, Fort Dodge; sons, David Anderson, Titonka; Robert Anderson, Rockford, Ill.; Eldon Anderson, Stratford; and Paul Anderson, Waterloo, and nine grandchildren.
