He was retired on disability from his work at Naval Ammunition Depot, Bangor, in 1957 and had previously worked for Crown Zellerbach Corporation. Mr. Kilmer was born in Kennewick on February 24, 1916, the son of Steven and Agnes (Butler) Kilmer and came to the Olympic Peninsula as a boy, attended school in Port Angeles and lived there and at Forks before entering World War II military service. He came to Port Townsend after serving four years in the Army. After working a short time for Crown Zellerback Corporation he was employed by the Navy at Bangor. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Agnes Kilmer of Port Townsend; five sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Purcell of Antioch CA, Mrs. Rose Nodell of Quilcene, Mrs. Mary Kilmer, Mrs. Daisy Cartmel and Mrs. Nora Schaff all of Port Townsend and a half brother, Jasper Butler of Port Townsend, besides numerous nieces and nephews. The Rev. William Holmes conducted the funeral services and music was by Sheila Pray and Frances Tuttle. Interment was in Shine Cemetery.
