She was a former resident of the Hart community but of recent years had resided in Lamoni where her death occurred on June 29 [1964] following an illness of several years. She, too, was a member of a prominent family, that of Warren and Martha Graham Little; only one member of this family survives, Mrs. Henry Brooks (Nora) of Eagleville [Missouri]. A sister, Mabel (Mrs. Harry Wilcoxson) and two brothers, Glen and Otis Little, with the parents, preceded her in death. She obtained her education at Green Valley district and during this time was courted by another student, James E. Hart, which resulted in marriage on Oct. 16, 1901. To their union was born one son, Wayne, who survives with his wife Lois, resides at Corydon, Iowa. James passed away Aug. 28, 1960. They began their married life together on the old Hart homestead, and Letha's pride and uppermost thought was in her family and in this home, which was always immaculate, colorful and comfortable. Many enjoyed her hospitality and good food. Today this spacious old home stands empty, but oh, the happy memories it contains in its walls for the son Wayne and grandson James of Topeka, who are filling their places in an honorable manner due to the influence of these ancestors. Final rites were held for Letha on Thursday, July 22, at 2:30 p. m. from the Stewart Funeral home, Lamoni, with Elder M. G. Brooks and Glenn Trullinger officiating. Mrs. Wilber Utterback and Mrs. Glenn Trullinger, with Mrs. Fletch Turner at the piano, sang hymns. Casketbearers laying her by the side of the companion and near the graves of her parents and other loved ones were nephews, Verle Brooks, Cecil and Cleo Little, Ben Laswell and Laverne and Everett Wilcoxson. The writer feels a personal loss in the going of this friend of many years and regret we were unable to be with the son and family for the final rites.
