Music was provided by Mrs. Carolyn Harris accompanied by Miss Helen Bunker, selections, being “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Casket bearers were Gese Gillette, Bruce McFarland, Edward McCoy, Stanley Sharp, Wesley Lewis, and Wade Scholey. McCoy, daughter of Jessie J. and Susie Wright Lewis, was born in Taylor County, December 19, 1886 and died at the Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Villisca, Iowa, September 24, 1974 at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 5 days. Mrs. McCoy had lived in this area most of her life and was united in marriage to Harley Guy McCoy on June 5, 1910, at Villisca, Iowa. He preceded her in death September 10, 1968. She was a member of the Villisca United Methodist Church and had also been active in the Rebecca and the Sew and Sew Club. Preceding her in death besides her husband were two sons, her father and mother. Her sons being named Calvin and Carl who died in infancy. She had three brothers, Laysure and Floyd, and Jessie Lewis who also preceded her in death. She leaved five children, Mrs. Alva I. Brownlee, Cheyenne, Wyoming, Lewis B. McCoy, Mesa, Arizona; Mrs. Dorothy M. McFarland, Missions, Kansas, Harley G. McCoy, Jr. of Delmar, Iowa; and Mrs. Marjorie A. Gillette, Villisca. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Besides these she leaves three sisters, Mrs. Zula Stinemates, Villisca, Mrs. Ralph Huntington, Corning, Mrs. Sarah Larson, Omaha, and one brother, Willard Lewis of Promise City, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.
