Read More	Obituary: Bourbon County, Kansas, Thursday , Oct. 31, 1935 Levi Emett Holt Levi Emett Holt, son of Samuel Bronson and Martha Jane Holt, was born August 9, 1870. After a year of suffering he passed away at 8:00 on the evening of October 26, 1935, having lived his entire life in this community. He was married to Miss Daisy Ramsey, Oct. 13, 1903. Three children were born to this union; Mrs. Fern Holt-Hobbs, Washington, D. C.; Howard Curtis Holt, Uniontown, and Virgel Marie, of the home. He also leaves three grandchildren and four brothers and one sister; Dennis E. Holt, Wheeler, Texas; Herbert W. Holt, Parkville, Mo., R. B. Holt, Walsh, Colo., Marshall Holt, Uniontown, and Mrs. Mamie Holt-McKinnis, of Walsh, Colo. Three brothers and one sister, John R., Willie, Miles E. and Miss Nova are deceased. He was a devoted husband and father; always glad to do anything for the comfort and happiness of his famiy. He was always glad to help any who were in trouble. He will be sadly missed. The Funeral for E. E. Holt, prominent and highly respected citizen of Uniontown, was held from the Methodist church at 2:30 p.m. Monday with several hundred sympathizing friends and associates paying tribute to his memory. The floral tributes were beautiful and profuse. The family piece, a lovely block of flowers, was inscribed, "Father." The I.O.O.F. Emblem, Telephone Co., First National Bank, Springfield, Colo., Dorcas Class, the Friendly Bible Class M.E. Church and Sunday School, Citizens National Bank and Bourbon County Baners' Association; also many other sprays from neighbors and friends. Out of town friends atttended from Bronson, Chanute, Iola, Fort Scott and Redfield. Mr. Holt was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge. The Rev. Green assisted by the Rev. M.Q. Geer, conducted the impressive rites. The first three verses of the 23rd Psalm were read by Rev. Green. Rev. Geer read scripture from Cor. 15fh chapter and Psalm 23rd. He gave comfort in prayer. Rev. Green used the verses: "In Thee, O Lord, do I put my trust, let me never be ashamed; deliver me into Thy righteousness for Thou art my rock and my fortress. Therefore, for Thy name's sake lead me and guide me." He said, "There is a refuge to which we may come in this life where there is much to do, so much to be accomplished," and admonished the friends to go out with a deeper purpose, stonger faith, and a clearer vision in service for others; then we will have fulfilled our mission. The life of Mr. Holt has left its deep impressions upon the people of this community. He was a useful citizen, a good neighbor, taking an interst of the affairs of his town, one who made a success in life, a good father and kind husband. He will be greatly missed by the Uniontown community. A quartet composed of Rev. and Mrs. Green, Mrs. M. J. Miller and Earl Konantz sang "Going Down the Valley." Eark Konantz sang the solo, "Face to Face," and Mrs. and Mrs. Green sang, "Sunshine Tomorrow." Mrs. Read was the accompanist. Interment was made in the uniontown cemetery. Nephews were pallbearers; Roy, Ed, and Sam Holt, Roy, Rolla and Loren Ramsey. The Odd Fellows attended the funeral in a body and held a ritualistic service at the grave. Out of town relatives were Mr. Holt's brothers and sister: Herbert W. Holt and wife, of Parkville, Mo., and their daughter and husband, of Kansas City. D. E. Holt and son, Robert, of Wheeler, Texas, R. B. Holt and Mrs. Mamie McKinnis, of Walsh, Colo., Ronald Holt, of Pritchett, Colo., and son-in-law, Ray Hobbs, of Washington, D. C. From the Walsh, Colorado Weekly Tab: "After the return of R. B. Holt to Walsh last week from the burial of is brother, L. E. Holt, at Uniontown, Kansas, the writer had occasion to talk to R.B. about his brother's death and later read of the life of this brother, which was filled with action. L. E. was the eldest of the family, and from him the others sought advice. During his earlier life he was a pioneer in the installation of modern devices such as the telephone and radio, and windmills, acquainting his neighbors with their usefulness and later in the practice of banking, those earlier precepts made him a leader of his people. A graphic picture of the solid character of Mr. L. E. Holt's philosophy of life was found when the family will was opened. A single sheet of paper, with a note addressed to his children was enclosed with the will. This note read: 'Help each other and be courteous to everyone and you will succeed. ' What finer advice could be left to posterity." NOTE: He signed all his work "Emet"
