Albro Held At Geneva Lewis Burnell Albro, son of Stephen B. and Ida Dennis Albro, was born in Fillmore county southeast of Fairmont on July 24, 1914, and passed away January 16, 1978, at the Fillmore County hospital at the age of 63 years and 6 months. Lewis grew up in Fairmont, attended school there and graduated from Fairmont high school. He was married to Helen F. Ward on October 16, 1937, at Fairmont, celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary together this past fall. He learned the meat cutting trade from George Schepers of Fairmont, working there several years, moving to Kansas continuing his trade there for two years and then coming back to run the Geneva Locker until the death of his wife's father. At this time he took up the occupation of farming, moving to the farm north of Geneva. This home was blessed with a daughter, Carol, whom he loved dearly. In 1953, Lewis lost his vision. For the rest of his life he saw the world around him through the eyes of his family and friends. Lewis was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Masonic lodge, Scottish Rite and Order of the Eastern Star. He was a gentle man, never complaining and always willing to talk to and help everyone he could. Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers, Hubert, Dennis and Leonard. He leaves to mourn in his passing his wife, Helen; daughter, Carol; son-in-law, Dick; three grandsons, Lewis, Mike and Timothy; brothers, Gilbert of York, Francis and Robert, both of Bremerton, Wash., Walter of Baltimore, Md.; sisters, Mrs.Harley (Merle) Mitchell of Lincoln, Mrs. Edmond (Geniza) Ackerman, Mrs. Hubert (Gertrude) McClellan, Mrs. Federal (Charlotte) Bridgman and Mrs. Margaret Gibson, all of Fairmont, and Dorthey Albro of Bremerton, Wash.; one aunt, Geniza Eggleston of Fresno, Cal., and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 19, with Rev. Marshal Hinds officiating. Miss Lorri Barbur was organist. Pallbearers were John Anderson, Stewart Schepers, Orville Dunkin, Lester Souba, Jesse Richards and Bernard Weiss. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
