Lillian May SPRATT was born Dec. 18, 1895, the daughter of James W. and Elizabeth WATSON JOHNSON. She was married to Clarence "Patsy" SPRATT of Fairfield, remembered by many Fairfield residents as a former fire truck driver before his retirement. He died May 23, 1959. Mrs. SPRATT moved to Pleasantville in 1965 where she made her home until her health failed. She is survived by seven children, 17 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren, along with three sisters. -------- Note: Lillian was known as May, and was first married to George William SEAMAN on January 14, 1914; they had at least eight children, and were divorced on Feb. 1, 1938 in Jefferson county, Iowa (his whereabouts are not known). She married Clarence E Spratt on August 31, 1942. He was a recent widower. Of the known children of George and Lillian May Johnson Seaman, one was Russell Otto SEAMAN (1917-Dec. 7, 1941), who was the first WWII casualty from Jefferson County. While this son has a "headstone" in this plot, it is now believed that it and a crypt were put in place in or about March 1942 in hopes that his body would be recovered and returned to Fairfield for burial. That may or may not have ever happened; he is listed still as "missing" on the War monuments in Pearl Harbor, so it is likely that he died on the USS Arizona and remains there. His memorial service notices published in March 1942 in Fairfield allude to memorial services held for him, but not a physical burial at Memorial Lawn next to the space where his mother was buried in 1979. This son has two separate memorials for him on FindAGrave; one created in 2003 is for Russell Otto Seaman on the USS Arizona memorial; the other is Russell Otto Seaman created in 2010 by CWGC/ABMC.
