The deceased was a daughter of Mrs. Parrish of this place, and the bereaved husband is a brother of our townsmen M.F. Long and Warren Long. The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, October 4, 1923; pg. 1 ============= Mrs. Lillie Long was born at Corning, Iowa, December 21, 1873, and was called away from her earthly home October 2, 1923, at the age of 49 years, 9 months and 11 days. In 1880 she came with her parents to Nelson, Nebraska, when a mere girl, and was educated in the public schools and grew to young womanhood and loved by all who knew her and was a successful teach of the public school for a number of years. She was united in marriage to Mr. G.B. Long April 6th, 1893, and they resided on a farm near Nelson until the year 1917, when they moved to Kimball, Nebr., at which place she lived until her death. To this union was born four children: Norman E. Long, Norfolk; Thomas A. Long, Jessie M. Long, and Faye Irene at home, who together with a devoted husband, are left to mourn her loss. Also, her mother, Mrs. Joan Parrish of Nelson; and one sister, Mr. M.M. Stiner, Lexington; and one brother, Chas. L. Parrish, Kimball; and one grand child, are left to mourn her departure. Mrs. Long was a faithful and consistent member of the Presbyterian church while at Nelson and continued active in the church work until the last. She was a member of the auxiliaries of this church and always dependable and ready to do her part. She was in failing health for a number of years, but bore her suffering with fortitude and patience. Her faith in God and her love for Christ was steadfast and sure while the billows roll. Unassuming and kind to everyone she will be missed by her many friends. In her home she was a queen, filling her position to the full, a dutiful loving mother and devoted wife. No one can estimate her worth, self-sacrificing always giving herself unstintedly (sic) for her home. "Tis mother's love there is none so pure, so constant and so kind; no human passion doth endure like this within the mind."
